All of our firearms training courses have a dedicated Course of Fire Instructor Range Guide that is specific to each particular training course. The total number of courses of fire (CoF) vary for each firearms training course based on the information covered in that course. Some courses of fire carry over into following firearms training courses as a way to strengthen the basic shooting fundamentals before adding new information. For instance, our Handgun 2 (Novice Pistol) Training Course has some of the Handgun 1 (Basic Pistol) Training Course courses of fire built into it as a refresher before moving onto additional skills. For each one of our firearms training courses we have two loadout options for how much ammunition is needed per participant to complete that training course. The first option is a Full Round Count and the second option is a Low Round Count Alternative. We do this for a few reasons:
We also have Optional Courses of Fire that are built into our range curriculum. This allows for flexibility within the class while still focusing on important tactics and techniques that are fundamental to shooting, but allowing for the option to have additional skill strengthening training if needed/wanted. Typically the decision to shoot any or all Optional Courses of Fire are made on the day of training based on how that training course and participants are progressing. We do this for a few reasons:
Each firearms training course description page has a section titled Ammunition Considerations. This area will give the recommended Full Round Count (FRC) and the recommended Low Round Count Alternative (LRCA) per participant for that specific training course. You will also see a minimum round count for each option. The minimum is how much ammunition is needed per participant if none of the Optional Courses of Fire are shot. Example from Handgun 1 (Basic Pistol) Training Course: - Full Round Count (FRC): 340 rounds (MINIMUM of 280 rounds, but 340 is recommended to complete all CoF) - Low Round Count Alternative (LRCA): 200 rounds (MINIMUM of 164 rounds, but 200 is recommended to complete all CoF) It can be challenging to build a program that fits the needs of everyone. We believe that offering two ammunition options (Full Round Count and Low Round Count Alternative), along with Optional Courses of Fire can individually help participants even when they are in a group setting. We have seen people in the past not participate in a firearms training course because they did not have enough ammunition or they could not purchase the required amount needed to complete the training or they were denied admittance for the same reasons. We do not want that to be the case with our training courses. We want to give people the ability to comfortably select an option that works best for them. A participant can still attend a firearms training course even if they do not have the minimum amount of ammunition listed. If that is the case, we ask that the participant notify us at booking or when requesting a Quote for Training so we can put forth a proper plan of action that will best benefit their ammunition use. These options do not change the price of the course, unless the participant is purchasing ammunition directly from Intuitive Defense to use in that firearms training course. More information on purchasing ammunition can be found here: Equipment Rental and Ammunition Purchase Wether you are bringing your own ammunition or purchasing ammunition from Intuitive Defense, please specify which round count option you want (FRC or LRCA) at checkout or when requesting a Quote for Training. It should be noted, if you are brining your own ammunition, full metal jacket (FMJ) is typically the best option as it is usually cheaper than other types. Ammunition purchase through Intuitive Defense will be full metal jacket (FMJ) as well. If you have any questions regarding this or other topics, please contact use here: EMAIL
